Down Care & Maintenance
Down is one of nature's small wonders; exceptionally light and wonderfully warm. Each individual cluster traps air to provide natural insulation and protect against the cold. To preserve this comfort for many years, our products deserve thoughtful and gentle care.
Daily Fluffing
A gentle shake in the morning is all it takes to restore the down to its natural shape. This allows it to regain its loft, trap fresh air, and maintain its soft, insulating fullness.
Fresh Air
Down needs room to breathe. After getting up, leave pillows and duvets uncovered for a while and air them regularly by an open window or on a balcony.
Just avoid moisture, fog, or direct sunlight. Too much heat can make down dry and brittle.
Gentle Wash
Wash only when genuinely needed, at 30 to 60 °C on a down or delicates programme to protect the down's natural oils; an essential factor in maintaining its longevity.
Skip fabric softener and bleach. It coats the cotton and reduces breathability. Close all zips before washing to protect the fabric.
Important: Ensure Complete Drying
Drying is the part that matters. Down must be dried completely. A tumble dryer with plenty of space works best; dryer balls help break up clumps.
Damp down clumps, loses loft and can develop odour, so give it more time than you think it needs and fluff it by hand at the end.
Professional Cleaning
We do not recommend routine dry cleaning for our baby products. If professional cleaning is needed, please choose a specialist laundry service experienced with down and ask for gentle wet cleaning rather than traditional solvent-based dry cleaning.
Note: Washing down pillows, down jackets, or other down products without using a tumble dryer is generally not recommended. Air-drying can be time-consuming and difficult, and there is a significant risk that the down may clump permanently.
Muslin Care
Machine wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Skip fabric softener as it coats the cotton and reduces breathability.
After washing, gently pull the item into shape and preferably leave them to air dry. Small wrinkles and the natural crinkle texture are part of muslin's character and make it feel so soft and full of life.
Close all zips before washing to protect the fabric.
